Odisha nursing student attempts suicide after ‘one-sided’ lover leaks her photos online

In a deeply disturbing incident, a young nursing student from Raighar block in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district reportedly attempted suicide after photographs of her were leaked on social media by a youth allegedly involved in a one-sided romantic pursuit.

According to sources, the girl consumed poison on Tuesday, unable to cope with the shame and humiliation following the circulation of her photos. 

The accused, who is said to have been obsessively pursuing the girl for some time, had allegedly uploaded the images on his social media handles, sparking widespread outrage in the local community.

The matter took a serious turn when the girl’s family filed a written complaint at the Raighar Police Station. Police have since recorded the victim’s statement and launched an investigation. However, the accused youth is yet to be apprehended.

This is not the first time the accused has harassed the victim. Her family alleged that a previous incident involving physical assault was reported at the local Police Station, but no substantial action was taken. They allege that the lack of timely police intervention contributed to the girl’s deteriorating mental state.

“She went to market on Sunday, where the youth assaulted her. When I went to file an FIR, I was told to submit a medical report. As it was already late, I could not submit it. The next day, I informed the villagers. Her condition is critical,” said the victim’s father.

The victim’s health condition is said to be critical, and she is currently under medical care. While police officials have confirmed that an investigation is underway, no official statement has been released regarding the arrest or progress in the case.
