14-yr-old boy kills self after mother scolds him for using mobile phone

In an unfortunate incident, a 14-year-old boy on Friday committed suicide after his mother scolded and prevented him from using mobile phone. 

The deceased has been identified as Sumit Mirda of Bharsundi village under Raighar block in Nabarangpur district.

According to sources, Sumit’s father owns a mobile phone store. Without his knowledge, Sumit stole a phone from the shop and used it to play games. However, his mother caught him with the phone and prevented him from using it.

Sumit was so addicted to his mobile that he went inside the bathroom and attempted suicide. Soon, the family members rescued him with a critical condition and rushed him to Raighar Hospital. However, doctors in the hospital declared him brought dead upon arrival.

A case has been registered in this connection. Police seized the body and sent it for autopsy. It was later handed over to family members for the last rites.
