Resentment is now brewing among people in different parts of Odisha over frequent power cuts. Scores of residents of Pakanaguda village in Nabarangpur district staged a demonstration and gheraoed grid office at Tandaguda late Saturday night.

The residents alleged that they were facing a lot of problems due to power cuts for long hours in the region.  The locals staged a demonstration for over three hours demanding immediate restoration of power supply to the region. The residents alleged that every day there are power cuts during night hours for which they are not able to sleep properly.

Irate locals raised slogans against the Odisha government and Tata Power. The residents had threatened not to vacate the grid office until power is restored in the region.

Though no officials reached the spot, other employees swung into action and restored the snapped electricity wire. Only after the restoration of power, the locals vacated the spot at around 2 am today.

The officials of the power distribution company could not be contacted over the allegations.
