e-tender for free medicine scheme begins in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday began the e-tendering process for supply of free medicines worth Rs 239 crore to poor patients during the 2016-17 fiscal.
Giving details of the e-tender process to the media, managing director of Odisha State Medical Corporation (OSMC) Parameswar B said; “We will have a pre-bidding meeting on June 4 with all the suppliers and interested bidders. The purpose of this meeting is to maximise participation in the coming year. From June 7, people will be able to participate in the online bidding process. The online bidding document has already been ,uploaded on the NIC website as well as in the OSMC website. From June 7 to July 4 people would be able to put their bid documents. We hope there would be more participation this year.”
He said this year, any manufacturer having two years of experience in manufacturing any particular drug is eligible to participate in the tender as per Central guidelines.
“The tender will be for supply of 426 types of medicines of which most are to be supplied to the district headquarters hospitals, community health centres and primary health centres. Besides, there are some specialised institutions like Sishu Bhawan, mental health institutions, cancer institutions for whom we purchase certain other special drugs,” Parameswar said.
He, however, made it clear that the medicines would be supplied depending on the requirement of the institutions and availability of specialists.
“OSMC will ensure timely procurement of quality medicines, surgical and EIF (equipment instrument and furniture) adhering to a fair, transparent, competitive tendering process for all government hospitals and medical colleges, smooth flow of supply to health facilities through a centralised online inventory management system, besides procurement and maintenance of medical equipment across health facilities,” Parameswar said.
