It is popularly known as the temple city. Because many temples built from sandstone are dotted around Bindu Sagar Lake in the old city, including the 11th-century Hindu Lingaraja Temple.
Police in Bhubaneswar busted an illegal liquor unit camouflaged as a bottled water plant, arresting four. Liquor worth Rs 19 lakh seized. Country-made liquor was being packaged in 100 ML water bottles and a bottle containing 100 ML of the illegal liquor is sold at Rs 40 in the market.
The Odisha government has announced a brief reshuffle in the police cadre with significant appointments, including Susanta Kumar Nath as DG of Prisons. This was effected after the second major IPS reshuffle since the new government assumed office nearly ten months ago.

The panel was constituted after a 20-year-old Nepalese girl student Prisha Sah of the KIIT was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her hostel room at around 8.10 PM yesterday.

'Sahayog', launched by Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, aims to aid urban poor in Odisha. It integrates 13 schemes like Awas yojana and Ayushman Bharat, starting in eight districts. 'Sahayog' will operate in at least 44 urban areas.
