Due to the mishap, several trains have been cancelled, diverted and rescheduled.
Patnaik assured PM Modi that the Odisha government is taking all possible steps to save the lives of the injured passengers who are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the state.
Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said that the restoration work is being undertaken on a war footing by the Indian Railways at the accident site.
According to a bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department, Sambalpur emerged as the hottest place in the State with mercury reaching up to 44.2 degrees Celsius today.
"In view of the unfortunate accident in Odisha, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has advised all airlines to monitor any abnormal surge in airfares to and from Bhubaneswar and other airports of the State and take necessary action regarding the same," it said in a statement.
The Union Railways Minister assured best treatment will be provided to those injured in the train mishap in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar or Kolkata.
In a briefing, Jena informed that the rescue operation is taking time as one general coach has been extensively damaged while another coach has climbed onto it. NDRF and other personnel are carrying out the rescue operations. However, there could be a requirement of a railway crane too, he said.
