Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over phone and briefed him about the current situation and the ongoing treatment measures provided to the victims of the Balasore train tragedy.

Patnaik assured PM Modi that the Odisha government is taking all possible steps to save the lives of the injured passengers who are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the state.

Highlighting the state’s policy, ‘Every Life Is Precious’, Patnaik said that soon after the train tragedy, the state government machinery along with locals undertook a massive operation to rescue and rush those injured to the hospitals for treatment.

In his telephonic conversation, Patnaik reportedly briefed PM Modi that as many as 1175 people were admitted to various hospitals, out of which 793 have been discharged. Most of the injured patients are in stable condition, he added.

Currently, 382 passengers are undergoing treatment in various government and private hospitals in the state, the Odisha CM informed.
