No respite from heat wave in Odisha; Sambalpur boils at 44.2 degrees Celsius

According to a bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department, Sambalpur emerged as the hottest place in the State with mercury reaching up to 44.2 degrees Celsius today.

Odisha continues to reel under intense heat wave as 18 places recorded maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or above on Saturday.

According to a bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department, Sambalpur emerged as the hottest place in the State with mercury reaching up to 44.2 degrees Celsius today.

Similarly, other places that recorded temperature of 40 degrees Celsius or above are- Cuttack (40), Angul (40.1), Baripada (40.8), Jharsuguda (43.5), Sundargarh (42.5), Hirakud (43.1), Talcher (40.6), Bhawanipatna (43.2), Bolangir (44), Titlagarh (43.5), Malkangiri (42), Sonepur (43.5), Paralakhemundi (40), Bhadrak (40), Bargarh (42.2), Nuapada (42) and Rourkela (41.8).

Day 1 (Valid upto 0830 hrs IST of 04.06.2023)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangapur.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind with speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Cuttack. Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Boudh, Malkangiri, Sundargarh, and Deogarh.

Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Boudh, and Bolangir.
