It is popularly known as the temple city. Because many temples built from sandstone are dotted around Bindu Sagar Lake in the old city, including the 11th-century Hindu Lingaraja Temple.
As no other candidates from other parties contested for the three seats, the two nominees of the Biju Janata Dal(BJD), Debasish Samantaray and Subashish Khuntia, and the lone candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ashwini Vaishnaw were elected uncontested on Tuesday.
According to Majhi, the next two weeks will be crucial and people will see several BJD MLAs and MPs leaving the party. He claimed that the BJP would form the next government in Odisha.
