The Higher Education department on Sunday announced the second-round merit list for this academic year’s undergraduate (UG) admissions. A total of around 45,502 students have been selected. Those who opted for Slide or Float options must report to their allotted colleges between June 23 and June 25.

Out of the 52,126 students who had opted for Slide/Float options, these candidates secured seats in the latest round. The selected students are instructed to report to their respective colleges between June 23 and June 25 to confirm their admission and complete the necessary formalities.
In comparison, the first-round merit list had seen 79,752 students successfully enrolled. The streamlined admission process, including the flexibility of Slide and Float options, aims to help more students find a suitable college according to their preferences and ranks.
The reporting period is crucial—failing to report may forfeit admission. Multi-round system through Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal ensures optimal admission based on ranks and preferences.
Worth mentioning, Ravenshaw University in Cuttack had emerged as the top choice this year in the first round across all three streams – Science, Commerce, and Arts.
Ravenshaw University had set the highest bar this year with its cut-off percentages leading across subjects. Political Science in the Arts stream was the most sought-after course this year and recorded a cut-off at 92.80%.
Admission rounds to continue till early July
The undergraduate admission process is being conducted in three phases via the centralised SAMS portal. The third and final round of seat allotments will be released on July 1, and candidates will be able to confirm their admissions from July 2 to July 4.
For candidates placed on waitlists or selected in the spot admission round, a final list will be declared on July 13, with admissions concluding on July 14.
Classes to begin on July 10
As per latest schedule from the Higher Education department, classes for first-year UG and postgraduate (PG) students will begin from July 10 across all universities and government-aided colleges in the State.
