Bhubaneswar: Following the order of Orissa High Court, the State government on Saturday decided to conduct special Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to fill up the vacant seats in B tech course and a second JEE for MBA and MCA courses in State technical colleges.

The aspirants have been notified to apply between August 3 and 7 for the examination which is to be held on August 10. The result will be announced on 12 and a spot counseling will be conducted on Aug 14, an official notification said.

The High Court, while adjudicating a petition filed by OPECA, asked the State Government to hold a special JEE for intake of B Tech students and second JEE to fill up the remaining seats in MCA and MBA lying vacant in several colleges.

The petition had contested the intake of B Tech students in State’s engineering colleges on the basis of a single All India JEE by violating a provision of the Odisha Professional Education Act.

Before merging with the AIJEE, the State Act was not amended, petition alleged. Further the State Act also has a provision to have a second JEE to fill up vacant seats if any, the OPECA had said in the petition.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government decided to set up committees at district level to take a final call on transfer of teachers of government-run schools in the state.

As per the new policy, teachers who want transfer to a suitable school will have to apply to a committee comprising District Collector, District Education Officer , Block Education officer, MLA and panchayat representative from next week till August 22, said School and Mass Education minister Debi Prasad Mishra.

The transfer order of teachers will come out only after consultation among the committee members in a meeting, the minister added.

By August 31, the process of transfer of teachers will be over, the minister informed.
