Odisha Police suspends former Badachana IIC over gross misconduct

Odisha Police has taken disciplinary action against former Badachana Police Station IIC Madhusmita Behera. Behera has been subjected to a series of disciplinary proceedings for negligence in duty and misuse of position.

Earlier, Police DG had suspended Behera following allegations of misconduct. Behera was accused of forcibly bringing a businessman to the police station without any formal complaint and detaining him for three days.

Additionally, the businessman accused her of taking a large sum of money. The investigation into the allegation is currently underway.

"Whereas, a disciplinary proceeding is contemplated against Inspector Madhusmita Behera, (Ex-IIC, Badachana P.S, Jajpur) for her gross misconduct and negligence in duty, and whereas, it is considered expedient in the Interest of public service. I therefore, in exercise of power conferred vide Rule 840 of PMR-1940, place Inspector of Police Madhusmita Behera under suspension with Immediate effect," read the office order issued by Odisha Police State Headquarters, Cuttack.

"During the period of suspension, she will remain in force, and she will under the disciplinary control of the Superintendent of Police, Jajpur. She will draw S.A. and D.A. as admissible under Rule 90 of Odisha Service Code," the order further read.
