Cuttack: Tension erupted at Parshulundagada after a cattle-carrying truck hit a roadside eatery injuring a man and his son early this morning.

Angry locals blocked the road for quite some time and later torched the 10-wheeler vehicle that fell into the Gobari river after hitting the shop.

The accident occurred early in the morning when the truck rammed into the shop where the father-son duo was fast asleep. The injured were admitted to the Mahanga Community Health Centre for treatment.

As many as 20 cattle died in the accident whereas the locals rescued the rest of the cattle stuck in the vehicle.

The villagers also nabbed two traders from the truck and handed them over to the police.

Sources said the vehicle carrying cattle was going from Shukarpada to Bhadrak.
