Assets worth over Rs 4 crore have been unearthed during searches at the multiple houses belonging to Koradakanta Anganwadi worker Kabita Mathan so far, the State Vigilance Directorate said on Tuesday. Earlier today, the Vigilance sleuths had launched a raid on the properties of the Anganwadi worker Kabita Mathan on charges of amassing disproportionate assets.
Four buildings including one four storeyed building, one triple storeyed building and two double storeyed buildings at Bhubaneswar and 14 plots, including 10 at Bhubaneswar, 3 at Talakusuma, Jagatsinghpur and 1 plot at Balianta, Khordha belonging to Mathan have been found, the Vigillance stated in a press note.
Apart from these immovable properties, the anti-corruption sleuths claimed to have laid their hands on one four wheeler, three two wheelers, apart from insurance deposits amounting to over Rs. 2.2 lakh, gold ornaments weighing approximately 212 grams (worth over Rs.6.36 lakh) and other movable and immovable properties belonging to her. The total assets unearthed during house searches so far are worth over Rs 4 crore, the Vigillance department stated adding that further searches are on at her premises.

In a tragic incident, a six-year-old girl was killed while six more children sustained injury after a wall collapsed on them at Rasibadi Ramchandrapur village under Dharakote police station in Aska, on Tuesday.
According to sources, the mishap took place when the children were playing near a house in the village. Suddenly a wall of the house gave way and fell on the children, killing one of them on the spot while leaving the rest injured.
The injured children have been admitted to the Dharakote hospital, sources informed.
