Ivory Tusk Racket: 5 Arrested From Odisha's Bhadrak

In a major crackdown on wildlife smuggling activities, a team of the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch along with Forest officials nabbed five persons for involvement in illegal smuggling of ivory tusks on Sunday. 

As per reports, forest officials of the Balasore division along with the STF team launched a sudden raid near Agarpada area in Bhadrak district after receiving tip off on the running of the wildlife crime syndicate. 

The enforcement team seized elephant tusks along with several other valuable items from the smugglers.

The STF has detained all the five persons and investigation for collecting information about the origin of elephant tusks, their source of procurement and destination of supply is underway. The STF is also inquiring about the persons involved in the smuggling racket. 

Five persons have been arrested so far in the case. 

"We have seized one Elephant tusk along with a pair of molar teeth. The investigation process is underway and we have arrested five persons in the case. Though, till now they haven't disclosed any information, we are putting high efforts to trace the link of the entire racket," informed Sushant Jena, ACF, Balasore.

Clash Between 2 Families In Cuttack; 1 Dead, 6 Injured

 One person, who had sustained multiple injuries in a clash between two families in Cuttack on Saturday, died while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Dipak Samal.
