While cricket lovers across the globe are eagerly waiting for the big clash of their favourite players in IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings player Devon Conway has been ruled out of the first half of the upcoming IPL 2024 season.

Conway, MS Dhoni-led CSK's opener who was the player of the match in IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad, has suffered a thumb injury during a T20I series against Australia at home.

In a statement, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) informed, "Following several scans and specialist advice, the decision was made to operate on Conway with a likely recovery period of at least eight weeks."

The 32-year-old batsman will reportedly undergo surgery this week and if reports are to be believed, Conway might take an eight-week recovery period which will force him to miss the first phase of the IPL.

IPL 2024 will begin in Chennai on March 22. Defending champions CSK will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opener at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
