Nursing trainee found dead in Balasore hospital hostel, probe on 

A 20-year-old BSc nursing trainee, Romeo Ranjan Samal from Soro, was found dead late Thursday night at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) hostel in Balasore. The circumstances of his death are under investigation. Preliminary reports suggest the student allegedly died by suicide after hanging himself.

According to reports, other students noticed Romeo and immediately rushed him to the hospital. His father, who is employed at the same hospital, also reached the spot quickly. Despite efforts, he could not be saved.

Questions have been raised about why the student, though enrolled in a private nursing college, was staying in the DHH hostel for training. Local reports have suggested that he may have died inside the hospital’s operation theatre, but there is no clear evidence to confirm this. It remains uncertain whether he attempted to take his life in the hostel or the OT.

No Official Response Yet

Reactions from the deceased’s family, the hospital authorities, and the police could not be received. The local IIC stated that he was not aware of the details of the incident at the time of reporting and added that further investigation would establish the facts.
