Puri Srimandir tightens security: Police get body cams, non-Servitors under watch

Security at the Jagannath Temple in Puri has been enhanced with the deployment of body cameras on police personnel stationed at the four main gates of the shrine. The move aims to improve vigilance and ensure stricter monitoring of devotees and visitors entering the temple.

According to officials, the body cameras are equipped with high-quality audio, video, and sufficient storage capacity. Attached to the chests of police officers, the devices will help keep a close watch on suspicious individuals attempting to enter the premises. They will also assist in identifying non-servitors and aid in taking action against them.

The system will further monitor prohibited items barred from temple entry. Authorities said that with this new measure, non-servitors will no longer be able to escort devotees inside or slip into restricted passageways unnoticed.

The cameras will record both visuals and conversations of devotees entering the temple. All the collected data will remain stored and can be reviewed by the police whenever necessary.

Officials added that the recorded footage will serve as crucial evidence and play a significant role in strengthening the overall security arrangements inside the temple.
