A day after six students were injured in a group clash on the premises of BJB Autonomous College in Bhubaneswar, the injured students affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) came down heavily on the College authorities, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) and the Commissionerate Police.

“BJB College has become a den for such notorious activities. At least eight such nuisances have been witnessed in the last three months on the college premises. Goons and leaders of BJD are openly drinking inside the college premises,” alleged ABVP student leader Arijit Pattanaik.

He further alleged that all these were a conspiracy by the ruling BJD to distract the students from real issues.

“The autonomous status of BJB College has been withdrawn. There is no development in the college and all such nuisances are being created only to distract the students from real issues. They are also targeting the ABVP student unit as it is progressing well,” he added.

The ABVP accused the BJD student leaders of destroying the ‘environment’ required for a college and creating an atmosphere of terror and criminal activities. Despite repeated demands, the college authorities were intentionally not installing CCTV cameras on the college premises, they alleged.

On the other hand, despite a rise in crime and fights inside the college premises, the Commissionerate Police miserably failed to take any action due to pressure from the ruling party, the ABVP alleged.

Minister Ashok Panda was the mastermind behind all the fights and criminal activities inside the college premises, the students alleged. The agitating students demanded the immediate arrest of those behind the attack on the ABVP students.

Worth mentioning, at least 40 students affiliated with the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) allegedly attacked the ABVP students while the internal examination of MBA was underway. While no exact reason for the attack was known immediately, the BCJD has been opposing the formation of a campus committee by the ABVP which led to the group clash.

Meanwhile, BCJD leaders could not be contacted over the allegations leveled by the ABVP.
