Matric exam student, 2 others critical in road accident in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Amid severe heatwave condition Matric examination started in the State today. However, on the first day of the examination a tragic incident happened as a candidate and two others were severely injured in a road accident at Muktapasi area under Kamakhanagar block in Dhenkanal district on Friday.

The victim has been identified as class 10 student Amit Das Pradhan from Kankili village. Amit’s father and another person also sustained critical injuries in the accident.

As per reports, Amit was returning home after appearing in Matric examination along with his father and another person when an ambulance hit them near Muktapasi. The ambulance was coming from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar to bring a patient to the medical. The driver lost control over the vehicle near Muktapasi resulting in the tragic accident.

All three of them sustained critical injuries in the accident. Subsequently, they were admitted to Kamakhyanagar. Later, they were shifted to Dehenkanal District Headquarters hospital as their condition deteriorated.

Upon being informed, Kamakhyanagar police rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
