Operation Dark: Sambalpur police intensifies citywide security measures ahead of festive season
In view of the upcoming festive season, the Sambalpur police officials have stepped up citywide security with the launch of ‘Operation Dark.’ Late-night patrolling has been intensified across various police station areas, including narrow lanes and busy intersections, to ensure the safety of residents and prevent crime.
Under the operation, police teams are conducting regular checks on pedestrians as well as vehicles, stopping suspicious individuals and vehicles for verification. Officers are also collecting information about unusual activities and monitoring potentially risky areas to maintain law and order.
Police officials said that the initiative aims to secure the city during the festive period, especially in crowded areas, dark lanes, and major junctions. The foot patrols, conducted during late hours, are intended to deter criminal activity, prevent incidents, and reassure citizens of their safety.
Operation Dark is focused on enhancing public safety, curbing crime, and maintaining peace in the city during the festive season, a senior officer said.
“The police stations have identified dark zones in their jurisdiction, and foot patrolling has commenced. Vehicle patrolling is less effective. When officers and other cops patrol on foot in these dark zones, people will feel safer. Additionally, we can better identify suspicious individuals and monitor their activities," said M.K. Bhamoo, Sambalpur SP.
