Vijay Deverakonda has always been in the news and hitting headlines, but this time it is for all the wrong reasons. VD has stirred a controversy after his remark that he would prefer dictatorship over democracy.
A deleted clip of his interview with Film Companion was posted online where the South actor shared his opinion on democracy and said “not everyone should be allowed to vote” for which he later faced massive flak.
People on Twitter slammed the star and called him out for his views and his ignorance of democratic values. Earlier also he had faced heat from the people when he justified his character in Arjun Reddy which received a lot of criticism for glorifying a toxic relationship and sexist hero.
Are we really surprised that this is coming from the same actor who had no problem playing the lead in a highly problematic, misogynistic and just overall pathetic movie? (Arjun Reddy) https://t.co/9dbZ18ogc1

In the interview Deverakonda was asked if he would join a party a few years down the line, he said, “I don’t have the patience for politics. The political system itself in some way is not making sense. As in, how we go about the elections is not making sense in some way. I don’t even think everyone should be allowed to vote.”
#VijayDeverakonda says only the middle class should be allowed to vote because they "have the most at stake". Does he genuinely believe this or does he have a movie coming up that would benefit from some negative publicity? #VijayDevarakonda https://t.co/TP18eULMWo

VD further told Film Companion, "Why we're having money and cheap liquor swing a vote, is ridiculous. I'm not saying that rich people should vote. I don't even think rich people should vote. I think the middle class, who have the most at stake, people who are educated and won't get swung by little money...I don't even think everyone should be allowed to vote because they don't know who they're voting for and why they're voting for."
I'm still tripping on that Vijay Deverakonda video.
"I (the dictator) have good intentions for you. You may not know what's good for you. But stick to what I say..."
Dude! 🤦🏽♂️
India is busy questioning it's democratic values and Mr Arjun Reddy is on some other trip on his own.

He further advocated for a dictatorship by saying, "I would like to be a dictator if at all. I think that's the way to go. That's the way you can make a change. ‘Just shut up...I’m having good intentions’ I think somewhere dictatorship is the way to go but you need to have a good guy."
