  • Reddit users have come up with a suggestion that Sanjay Leela Bhansali can think of a Kothaverse.
  • The cross-over can include Alia Bhatt's Gangubai, Madhuri's Chandramukhi and Manisha's Mallikajaan.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his fetish for period movies, extravagant, glittering sets, and traditional outfits is not new. Importantly most of his movies have at least a mention of a Kothewali, tawayaf, or a mujrewali. Of course, there are movies like Black, Khamoshi, or even Guzaarish that are entirely different from the rest of his creations.

Even then SLB movies like Devdas, Bajirao Mastani, and Gangubai Kathiawadi have courtesans, dancers, and kothewali playing very important roles in the films. His latest project Heeramandi which is a high-budget Netflix web series is based on the life of Kothewali and tawayafs from Lahore.

Since the famous Bollywood director has such a glorious legacy of doing movies on prostitutes and showcasing their pain and life, a few Reddit users have come up with a suggestion that Sanjay Leela Bhansali can think of a Kothaverse and show a crossover with Alia Bhatt's Gangubai from Gangubai Kathiawadi, Madhuri Dixit's Chandramukhi from Devdas and Heeramandi's Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha and others sharing the screen.

Nevertheless, it is all but just an imagination of netizens but if it comes true, it surely will be a treat for the audience. Bollywood fans have already seen Alia Bhatt and Madhuri Dixit or the Dhak Dhak girl sharing the screen with Manisha Koirala, but what if all these three actresses meet each other as Gangubai, Chandramukhi and Mallikajaan?

It certainly will be a very big crossover escalating even the hype that was created when Deepika and Priyanka danced together on Pinga or when Maddy and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan grooved to Dola Re Dola. Imaginations apart, Heeramandi has received a mixed response with those who have always been fans of SLB's elaborate style and penchant for aesthetic details and glorifying the beauties in his movies lapping it all happily.

However, those Bollywood fans who watch films just for the sake of their love for cinema and creativity have not been impressed and rather a few even have pointed inaccuracies since Heeramandi has a pre-independence backdrop and is set in Lahore.
