Sambalpur: Odisha government has fixed a procurement target of 45 lakh metric tonne of kharif paddy this year. This was announced by Food Supplies minister Sanjay Dasburma on Wednesday.
Talking to mediapersons after a preparatory meeting at conference hall of RDC Northern division, Dasburma stated that 50.3% of the procurement target will be procured from the Northern revenue areas in the State.
The State government will spend Rs 6,500 crore on purchase of paddy this year, the minister added.
Among others, the meeting was attended by 12 district collectors of the State.
Notably, the State government will begin the procurement of kharif paddy from the farmers from November 15.
