Bhubaneswar: Gitanjali Batmanabane, who took charge as the new director of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar here on Friday said, she will try her level best to see that the ongoing projects in the State under the administrative control of the premier institute meet the timeline.
“There are a lot of plans which have been laid. We will ensure that those timelines are met…There are administrative ways to get round these things,” she stated.
Batmanabane, who was associated with Pharmacology department of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry for a long time maintained that there has to be a certain amount of patience for better health services.
Talking to OTV about her plans for the overall development of the institute she said, “I know that Bhubaneswar AIIMS is the best institute among the new six new AIIMS clones. So I am glad that I am with the institution which has already made its mark.
Dr Ashok Mohapatra, the founding director has taken the institute to a certain level. And if I can take it to the next level it is because of what has been done in all these years…Now I have to make sure that this baby which is now walking can slowly start to run…But it is too early to tell towards what directions we have to exactly move because I have to know what the plans in details and their positions,” she noted.
She stressed to work on three levels–academic, hospital and administration—to take the institution to new heights.
“On academic side we have to see whether we can start new courses, improve teaching methods, faculty development and improve teachers’ skills. On the hospital front we will try to open more beds and other specialities here. Besides we have to complete the recruitment as soon as possible,” she said.
