Amidst the scare of the new Covid-19 variant ‘Omicron’, the Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) in Bhubaneswar has confirmed that the new variant has not been detected in any of the 246 COVID19 positive samples.

According to the WHO's weekly report, during the week of November 1-7, the WHO European Region reported 1,949,419 new cases, a 7 per cent week-on-week increase, while other regions reported declines or stable trends.

In a separate communication with states and UTs, he noted that the weekly enforcement data received from across the country with regard to wearing face masks in public, maintaining social distancing norms and imposition of fines indicate a downward trend, but asked the state governments and UT administrations to augment their efforts for effectively checking transmission of the disease.

The Odisha government is gearing up to fight against the possible third wave predicted to hit the country in the months of September & October this year.

Predictions on Corona's third wave by various models are not completely reliable, stated Directorate of Medical Education & Training Chief, CBK Mohanty on Wednesday (Aug 25).

The rising cases of Covid-19 among children have added fuel to the fear of more children getting infected in the next wave.

Children developing symptoms will be immediately given treatment and then tested for Covid-19.
