Western Odisha’s voice: OTV’s Fee Din where culture meets news

Staying true to its commitment to promote local language and culture, OTV has taken a major step forward with the launch of its 24-hour digital platform ‘Fee Din’ during the recent Nuakhai festival.

OTV was the first media house to bring news in the local dialect of western Odisha back in December 2009, when it introduced the Fee Din bulletin. Sixteen years later, the initiative has grown into a full-fledged digital platform that not only covers regional news but also showcases programmes on Art, Culture, Food, Dance, and Music.

To spread awareness and gather feedback on this new venture, OTV on Tuesday organised a journalists’ and intellectuals’ meet in Bolangir. Local residents actively participated, exchanging views and offering suggestions to make Fee Din more engaging and accessible.

The event was attended by OTV Business Head (News) Litisha Mangat Panda and Executive Editor Radhamadhab Mishra, while Western Odisha Bureau Head Manoranjan Joshi conducted the proceedings.

The cultural flavour of the programme was enriched with poetry recitations by eminent poets and musical performances by vocal artists, making the evening both informative and entertaining.

With this launch, OTV has reaffirmed its role as a pioneer in promoting grassroots journalism and regional identity, ensuring that the voices of western Odisha continue to find a larger platform in the digital era.

Speaking at the event, OTV Business Head (News) Litisha stated, “This isn’t a new initiative or rebranding. This is pure commitment to encourage true journalism at grassroots level. We want to go deeper, not wider, which is OTV’s commitment. I’m confident and hopeful that the love OTV Fee Din will get would equal or even surpass what OTV has been getting since decades.”

“Our aim is to take ‘Fee Din’ to the people round-the-clock through the digital medium which was started on an auspicious day like Nuakhai. I’m elated that people have been watching ‘Fee Din’. Not just for news, people suggested us to take steps to solve their daily problems. The love that we have received over the years will inspire us to take ‘Fee Din’ to larger platform,” said an elated Radhamadhab Mishra, Executive Editor of OTV.
