Odisha Well Equipped To Handle Children If 3rd Wave Hits State: DMET Chief Highlights Preparedness

Children developing symptoms will be immediately given treatment and then tested for Covid-19. Speaking on Odisha's preparations ahead of the possible third wave, DMET (Directorate of Medical Education and Training) Chief CBK Mohanty on Friday (Aug 13) stated that a special task force will be set up at a national level to monitor the Covid-19 infections among children.

Mohanty informed that those children in need of treatment will be treated first without waiting for their Covid test report. Around 3000 beds will be set up for children, which will include 610 ICU beds. And if required, special Covid hospitals will also be set up for children in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Rourkela, the senior health official said.
