Usually, most snakes are cannibals who eat other snakes when hungry or there is no other source of food available. It was rather unusual for the Snake Helpline members to witness what unfolded in an under-construction septic tank in a house in Dulanapur village under Banki-Tamapada block.
A cobra was recently found with its head stuck inside a discarded beer can at Madhipur village in Puri. Later, the snake helpline members took the reptile to their office and launched an operation to remove the tin can from its body.
An Indian cobra was recently found in the bathroom of a house in Bhubaneswar’s Pokhariput area. Upon discovering the snake, the residents of the house immediately contacted the Snake Helpline.
A 4-ft snake was rescued from a bird’s cage in Bhubaneswar’s Bhimatangi area. The cobra had sneaked into the cage to prey on the birds. However, the house owner spotted the snake while it was trying to escape from the cage. Fearing that the snake might enter the house, the bird’s owner blocked the reptile’s way using a broom.
A 5-feet long cobra snake got entangled in a fishing net at a farm in Betakholi Village under Athagarh Block in Cuttack district. Later, locals spotted the distressed reptile and called the snake helpline members for help. After a 2-hour long rescue operation, the cobra was released in the nearby forest area.
To find a snake so close will make a lot of people squeamish. And to shed that inhibition, an initiative like this has been launched by snake helpline members in Bhubaneswar.
