Bhubaneswar: With an aim to create awareness on life risks involved in taking selfie with wild animals, a workshop was organised by the Snake Helpline here today.

The workshop discussed about many youths losing their lives recently because of selfie obsession. In 2017, three persons were killed while taking selfies with wild animals.

Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) of Nandanakanan KL Purohit, said, "In  the present world, one is free to take his or her own photo as much as possible and that too easily, but this does not mean that you should do it at the cost of your life."

Echoing similar views, Snake Helpline general secretary Subhendu Mallik said selfie takers should remember not to get close to wild animals and frighten them.

"When the animal reacts to the situation, it endangers the life of the person taking photos," Mallik added.
