As only six days are left to the Netra Utsav, which is celebrated after 14 days of the deities’ Anasara period, the Darji servitors are working round the clock to finish the stitching of the canopy coverings of the three chariots.

The annual festival of nine-day sojourn of the sibling deities to their aunt’s place, or Gundicha temple, is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Aashadha. 

The set of guidelines will particularly be strictly followed from Rath Yatra to Niladri Bije of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.

According to sources, as many as 180 platoons of police force will be deployed in Puri for the smooth and timely conduct of the Rath Yatra, which will see a footfall of lakhs of devotees from across the globe. 

While the base oil of this ‘Phuluri Tela’ is hand-pressed sesame oil,  24 ingredients including some flowers such as Ketaki, Malli, Boula and Champa and some barks and roots, sandalwood powder, camphor, rice grains are mixed to prepare the special oil. 

The district and temple administrations have been asked to make special arrangements for the early darshan of the deity by old, physically disabled and differently-abled persons, women and children.

Deba Snana Purnima or Snana Yatra is believed to be the birthday of Lord Jagannath. Because of this, the festival assumes importance. The main attraction of the festival is the Hati Besha of the deities, which is conducted after the Chhera Panhara ritual.

Once completed, the bridge will allow vehicles coming from Bhubaneswar and Brahmagiri to reach the Jagannath Vallabh parking spot directly by avoiding city traffic. 

There are several battery-operated cars running in Puri town to carry elderly and Divyang passengers to Lord Jagannath temple. The mishap occurred today when one of such cars was returning from the temple after dropping off some passengers.

As Ahmedabad readies itself for the 146th Rath Yatra, Gujarat Police are ready with its preparations, but for the first time, they have complete tech support.

As per tradition, the Chaka Dera ritual is conducted on the occasion of 'Bhaunri Jatra,' the last day of the 'Bahara Chandan Yatra' of the deities.

The rituals began after the Biswakarma and other Maharana servitors brought the divine garland of consent (Agyan Mala) from Goddess Charchika in front of Srimandir before commencing the chariot construction as per the Vedic rituals at the Ratha Khala on the Bada Danda.

The beneficiaries of the Chariot parts were shortlisted in a meeting today which was attended by the SJTA administrator (ritual), officials of the Chariot Construction Committee and five senior members of the Srimandir Managing Committee.

The SJTA swung into action after receiving a letter from the Odia Language, Literature & Culture department wherein it was asked to constitute an advisory committee.
