The incident had occurred two days back but only came into light after a FIR was lodged at a police station on Thursday.
In a viral footage, the victim, who was in a semi-naked condition and bleeding, was seen approaching a man for help, who shoos her away.
When contacted, police said that they were waiting for the post-mortem reports that will reveal if the victim was gangraped or not.
After the incident came to the fore, villagers staged a road blockade demanding justice for the victim. According to sources, tension escalated when the police reached the spot and asked the agitating villagers to withdraw their road blockade.
The four suspects were arrested on Monday morning, the police said, adding that the alleged incident took place on Sunday night in the Banipur Dhekeri Gaon neighbourhood of the district.
According to the relatives of the woman, the accused also snatched away her chain, rings and other valuable items before fleeing.
