Tension flared up at a village under Dangasil police limits in Rayagada district after a Class-III girl was allegedly raped in her school by a peon.

After the incident came to the fore, villagers staged a road blockade demanding justice for the victim. According to sources, tension escalated when the police reached the spot and asked the agitating villagers to withdraw their road blockade.

Subsequently, a tussle ensued between the police and the villagers. The mob then set the police bus on fire.

Meanwhile, two platoons of police force have been deployed at the spot to curb any further escalation of tension.

When Rayagada ASP, BK Nanda was approached by the media, he denied commenting anything on the matter at that moment.

As per sources, the victim was first admitted to Dangasil Primary Health Centre (CHC), and from there she was shifted to Rayagada district headquarters hospital after her condition deteriorated.
