Woman critical after man who offered lift throws her off speeding bike as she resists molestation bid

In a shocking incident, a woman was left battling for her life after a biker offered her a lift and threw her off the speeding vehicle after she resisted his molestation bid. The incident has been reported from the Choudwar area in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

The woman has been admitted to Cuttack-based SCB Medical College and Hospital with grievous injuries. Her condition was stated to be critical during the filing of this report.

According to sources, the woman from Patia in Bhubaneswar had been to Nischintakoili to tie rakhi to her brother. The accused approached her when she was waiting for the bus to return at around 8 PM and offered to give her lift up to Cuttack.

 
Trusting him, the woman came with him and handed him Rs 300 for petrol. However, the accused mid-way diverted from the main road and tried to take a jungle road. Suspecting danger, she tried to stop him but he threatened her and attempted to molest her.

She then screamed for help following which the accused threw her off his speeding bike and sped away leaving her grievously injured. Locals spotted the girl lying in a pool of blood and alerted the local cops who rushed her to the hospital.

According to the relatives of the woman, the accused also snatched away her chain, rings, and other valuable items before fleeing. 

“The victim had taken a lift from Nischintakoili. She was rescued from a deserted place between Tangi-Choudwar. A thorough probe is on and stringent action will be taken against the accused,” informed Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra.
