Byanjana Dwadashi, a special festival for Lord Sri Krishna, was celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour at the pilgrim city of Puri on Sunday. On the occasion, over 850 traditional dishes were prepared and served to the Lord at mutts and temples.
The invitation will be sent to the Holy Trinity at Srimandir in a grand procession following all the traditional rituals.
BJP demanded that a case should be registered against Pandian and Jani by Srimandir Temple Administration under IPC Section 295 A and both of them should be arrested immediately.
Devotees and servitors have demanded to ensure smooth and disciplined solemnisation of rituals of the deities on the day.
Devotees visiting the shrine will be encouraged to carry puja materials like flowers and bhogs in paper, cotton bags, bhogei, small bamboo containers, and small wooden baskets inside the temple, said SJTA chief administrator Ranjan Das.
The SJTA administrator said Pahili Bhoga ritual will commence for the deities in the Srimandir from December 16 till January 14, 2024. The meeting discussed the ritual schedule and a decision was taken to open the doors from 2 am every day till January 14, 2024.
‘Mahadipa’, a huge diya, is lifted atop the temple late in the evening by the Chunara servitors, following which 1 lakh diyas will be lighted on the Grand Road tomorrow.
Though the Srimandir Heritage Corridor Project is being constructed with a budget of crores of rupees, no conception of a museum in the project has left several devotees of Lord Jagannath disappointed.
