Odisha Govt and SJTA reject online sale of Lord Jagannath’s 'Mahaprasad'
The sacred Mahaprasad of Lord Jagannath in Puri cannot be sold online, as its sanctity is entirely unique, informed Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Monday
According to Minister Harichandan, certain organizations had requested the temple administration to consider delivering either dry bhog or Mahaprasad to distant locations through online service.
However, both Odisha government and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) have refused consent, citing concerns over maintaining its sanctity.
The Minister also stated that a revised rate chart will soon be put up at Anand Bazar. Discussions regarding this matter have already been completed.
Meanwhile, in an effort to ensure discipline and improve the overall experience for devotees, SJTA has initiated steps to streamline the functioning of Anand Bazar inside the Puri Srimandir premises.

The administration is set to introduce a fixed price list for Abadha and ‘Sukhili Bhog’ items to curb irregularities and ensure transparency.
Separate counters will be established for the sale and consumption of ‘Sukhili Bhog’ and Mahaprasad. The SJTA has also directed that only Omfed ghee be used in the preparation of bhog. Action will be taken against Suar and Mahasuar servitors violating this norm.
