The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Bar Council of India to cancel the license of agitating lawyers.

It is pertinent to mention that the demand for a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in western Odisha at Sambalpur has been mounting for a long time. 

The lawyers’ association staged a silent protest over the shifting of the Orissa High Court from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha State Bar Council on Tuesday directed bar associations in Sambalpur, Badamba, Tangi, Talcher and Pallahara to end their strike and return to work immediately.

In his letter, J K Samantasinghar, the secretary of the Odisha State Bar Council, warned the agitating lawyers that their license of practice would be suspended if they don’t join their work. 

The Orissa High Court may take up the petitions for hearing on Monday (November 14).

As per the advertisement, the engagement in respect of in-service professors shall be on a deputation basis for a period of two years and in respect of retired professors shall be on purely temporary and contractual basis for a term of two years terminable by one month's notice.

Releasing a press statement, the Registry of Orissa High Court stated, "It is extremely unfortunate that an item of fake news has been made viral on social media at the instance of a lawyer practicing in Orissa High Court by publishing a photograph and making wholly scurrilous and false statements without knowing the real facts."

Speaking to OTV, Kajol Sahu, the counsel of the petitioner said, “The STA never submitted any written statement to the court about its plans on the HSRP drive. They had verbally said that the entire infrastructure for HSRP registration is at place.”
