The Bhubaneswar bar association members have staged protests outside the district and sessions court in Bhubaneswar on Friday. The lawyers’ association staged a silent protest over the shifting of the Orissa High Court from Cuttack to Bhubaneswar. The lawyers have also demanded a district status for Bhubaneswar.

As per sources, the protest has affected today’s court proceedings. The bar council secretary Raj Mohapatra, in addition to this, has said, “ Generally every state has its High Court in the capital, because Bhubaneswar is the capital city of Odisha the High Court should also be stationed here.

This move will also help the common people. Earlier this proposal was approved by the then Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. Even for this purpose a land area of 150 acres has also been allotted for High Court in the capital city”.

Sources claim that Raj has also warned that if the demands are not fulfilled then the protest will further grow stronger.
