As many as 22 places in the State recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree or above on Saturday.
The stormy weather is expected to bring much-needed relief for people of the State reeling under sweltering heat.
The forecasts show some places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Angul recording around 45 deg C between Apr 25-29.
Maximum temperature will be more than 40 degree Celsius at many places and likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 degree Celsius at a few places over the districts of interior Odisha during next 4 to 5 days.
Sweltering heat prevailed over most parts of Odisha on Sunday with as many as eight towns recording temperature of over 40 Degree Celsius even as the Bay of Bengal is set to host a fresh low pressure in three days' time
Daytime temperature also remained above 36 degrees in 10 cities of the State in the last 24 hours. Titlagarh remained the hottest city with 38 degree Celsius on Sunday.
Vehicular movement was also affected in the Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Puri and other parts of the State. Motorists were seen having a tough time due to the foggy weather conditions, said reports.
The Met Centre also said that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj on February 24.
One or two places of Sonepur, Bolangir, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khordha and Puri might also receive thundershower on Thursday.
Minimum temperature will gradually rise by 3 to 4 degree Celsius during the next 3 days over the districts of Odisha.
The Met Centre also issued yellow warning for cold wave conditions over the districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sundargarh and Keonjhar tomorrow.

The weather office has issued yellow warning on thunderstorm and lightning for nine districts of the State. The alert has been sounded for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Dhenkanal districts.
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati and at one or two places over the rest of the districts of Odisha on January 16.
The weather office has issued yellow warning for thunderstorms accompanied by hail over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Deogarh on Tuesday.
