Heavy rain likely to lash Odisha as IMD predicts fresh low pressure in next 12 hours
A low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts within the next 12 hours, predicted the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
This weather development is attributed to an upper air cyclonic circulation that has been active since yesterday over the same region. The system is currently influencing weather conditions across parts of north Odisha and southern West Bengal.
Under the influence of this circulation, atmospheric conditions are becoming increasingly favourable for the formation of a low-pressure system. If it intensifies further, it could bring widespread rainfall to coastal and interior districts of Odisha.
Meanwhile, the weather office has issued orange and yellow warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm for several Odisha districts.
