Thunderstorm Alert For Odisha
An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north coastal Odisha and south Gangetic West Bengal, informed the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.
The IMD has issued a warning for thunderstorm activity with lightning, gusty surface winds, and heavy rainfall in some parts of Odisha from June 9 to June 13, 2025.
The IMD has issued an orange warning for thunderstorms with lightning, with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph in some districts of the state in the next 24 hours.

Orange Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Angul.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khordha.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, Boudh, Rayagada, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Khordha.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Puri, Nayagarh, Khordha, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, Boudh, Rayagada, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, and Bolangir.
Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput, and Rayagada.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar.
Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack and Nayagarh.
