IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra on Thursday said that Odisha is likely to receive good amount of rains in the month of September
The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in its latest forecast informed that the low pressure area over North Odisha and adjoining South Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal has become less marked.
A low pressure area is likely to form over Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low peressure area is likely to form over northwest & adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off Odisha north-Andhra Pradesh coasts.
Amid reports of a cyclonic circulation forming over the Bay of Bengal (BoB), the regional Centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘yellow warning’ for 7 districts of the state for the next 24 hours.
Odisha has been hit by the deficit rainfall in the last 2 months, particularly in the month of August. At leaset 24 districts have been affected by this, informed the IMD on Thursday
Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places of the State for three days.

Due to the low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighborhood, many parts of the State have been receiving light to moderate rainfall since the last two days.
The latest forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) suggests that a cyclonic circulation currently lies over south Bangladesh and neighborhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level. The weather department stated that a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighborhood around 23rd July.
