Due to the low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and neighborhood, many parts of the State have been receiving light to moderate rainfall since the last two days.

Paradip has received 122.0 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours followed by Puri (121mm), Chandbali (86mm), Bhubaneswar (33 mm) and Balasore (46 mm), the Regional Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar informed today.

On Thursday, the Met Centre had informed about the formation of the Low Pressure Area over the Northwest Bay of Bengal andneighborhood.

Under the influence of the low pressure over the Northwest Bay of Bengal, squally weather with strong surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmphis likely over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal till July 25 and over along and off Odisha coast during July 23 and July 25, the Met Centre had informed yesterday.

“Most of the places of the State might receive heavy to very heavy rainfall for two days. After two days, the rainfall will considerably decrease. While many places will receive moderate rainfall during these two days, one or two places might witness heavy rainfall,” HR Biswas, the Director of Bhubaneswar Met Centre had said on Thursday.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea areas of North Bay of Bengal adjoining west central Bay ofBengal between July 22 and July 25 and along and off Odisha coast during July 23 and 25.

Day 1 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of23.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 24.07.2021):

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at most places over thedistricts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur atone or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Deogarh and Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 24.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 25.07.2021):

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely tooccur at many places over thedistricts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Koraput, Bargarh and Jharsuguda.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 26.07.2021):

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or twoplaces over the districts of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 26.07.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 27.07.2021):

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely tooccur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
