The Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha on Wednesday released the final electoral rolls of the eligible voters ahead of the elections to the three-tier Panchayati Raj bodies in the State.
Thousands of members belonging to the OBC Front blocked a road too disrupting vehicular traffic for quite some time before submitting a memorandum to the Additional Collector.

The BJP alleged that the BJD's announcement to give preference to OBC candidates in the forthcoming panchayat polls is only to lure the community.
Party's organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das moved the resolution which was unanimously supported and subsequently approved by party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The State government has promulgated the Ordinance ‘The Odisha Panchayat Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021’ to amend ‘The Odisha Grama Panchayats Act, 1964’, ‘The Odisha Panchayat Samiti Act, 1959’ and ‘The Odisha Zilla Parisad Act, 1991’.
The Odisha government on Friday re-published the draft list of reservations for the post of Zilla Parishad (ZP) Presidents across the State ahead of the forthcoming elections to the Panchayat Elections.
As per the list released by the SEC, no seat has been reserved for backward class in 14 districts of the State. Similarly, there is only one seat reserved for the backward class in Boudh district while two seats are reserved for the category in Subarnapur district.
