A day after three places from Odisha were among the ten hottest places in the world, the mercury touched 38.4 degree Celsius by 8:30 am on Wednesday indicating continuity of intense heatwave conditions in different parts of the state.

As per IMD data, 16 places in Odisha recorded a maximum temperature of 34 degrees and above by 8:30 am today.

While Talcher recorded the highest temperature of 38.4 degrees, Bhawanipatna recorded 37.4, Baripada 36.4, Bolangir 36.2 and Titilagarh recorded 36 degrees C by 8:30 am.

IMD Bhubaneswar scientist Umashankar Dash informed that the temperature in Bhubaneswar seems to be a little less aggressive than yesterday. However, the humidity is more. By 8:30 am, Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 34.8 while Cuttack recorded 35 degrees during the same period today.

"The wind is from the south so not supportive, so it seems as of now the temperature won't cross yesterday`s mark, " tweeted Dash.

On Tuesday, Baripada in Mayurbhanj was the second hottest place in the world with 46.4 degrees Celsius, Balasore and Bhubaneswar were the third and tenth hottest places, respectively. 

Baripada's temperature reading of 46.4 degrees was an all-time high temperature for the city yesterday.
