For a long time, people from various walks of life and outfits had been demanding before the East Coast Railways for daily passenger train service between Bhubaneswar and Vishakhapatnam. Over one lakh people living in Odisha are expected to benefit from the routine train service, reports said.

"As long as I stayed with the BJD, I worked with dedication. I always thought of the party. If some people will benefit after I quit the party, I am happy. Many leaders have got tickets four times, but I was not given a ticket even once," Roy said.

Five months have passed since the renovation work of the railway station started, but the work has allegedly not progressed as expected. Due to the ongoing renovation, space for certain facilities such as the parking lot is also curtailed, reports said.  

Security guards allegedly launched an attack on a bus driver and conductor after the concerned vehicle took a wrong route at the bus terminal.

Senior BJD leader and Former Rajya Sabha member Prasanna Acharya on Friday sustained critical injuries after his car collided head-on with a gas tanker near Beladihi in Rairakhol. Acharya was reportedly returning to Bargarh from Bhubaneswar when the mishap took place.

Police received information about the presence of some robbers on the Patia playground. As police raided the place, five robbers tried to flee but were finally caught. They were planning to loot a liquor shop last night, police said.

A youth identified as Raja Sethi was kidnapped by some youths two days back from near Unit-8 Passport office. Raja was reportedly with his girlfriend Priya Nayak when he was kidnapped by one Ankit Kanhar and some other youths.

The ED had earlier raided eight locations linked to the accused including six in Bhubaneswar and one each in Berhmapur and Chhatrapur as part of its investigation into the alleged money laundering.

Odisha’s longest-ever flyover bridge was inaugurated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday through video conferencing at Joda town in Keonjhar.
