Locals at Khaira village under Boden block in Nuapada district alleged that a leopard killed a bullock last night.

Nuakhai is one of the most important and celebrated festivals of western Odisha, but unfortunately for the people of Konabira village of Nuapada district, this year could be their last one at their homes.

These visuals are from Komna block in Nuapada district. Water from Lower Indra Irrigation Project entered Konabira village after incessant rain in upper catchment areas. After the dam water seeped into Jagannath temple of the village, priests took the idols to a safer place 2km away.

A bridge over Jonk River collapsed following heavy downpour in Nuapada district. As a result, vehicular communication between Odisha and Chhattisgarh was disrupted. Watch this video.

People have been advised not to use contaminated water from open sources and only drink boiled water. 

In self defence, the security forces returned fire.

While the identities of the deceased and the injured persons are yet to be ascertained, the woman is believed to be the mother of the child.
