Post landfall, even though Cyclone Yaas has gradually weakened, Odisha's Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena stated that strong winds and rainfall continue to persist in Nilagiri area of Balasore district.

Speaking on the likely impact of the cyclone ‘Yaas’ in Odisha, Chief of India Meteorological Centre (IMD), Mrutyunjay Mohapatratoday stated that Dhamara and Chandbali area of Bhadrakmay witness maximum damage due to the cyclone.

The severe cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ over Bay of Bengal is set to intensify into a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ by the evening of May 25th.

With Cyclone Yaas hurtling towards Odisha & West Bengal coasts India Meteorological Department (IMD) chief, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said that four districts of Odisha are likely to be affected the most.

The deep depression over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal which lay centred about 540 km south-southeast of Paradip and 650 km south-southeast of Balasore last night, has intensified into a Cyclonic Storm this morning.

A cyclone is going to form over Bay of Bengal and it will be heading towards the Odisha and West Bengal Coast, said Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mrutyunjay Mohapatra.

A cyclonic storm is very likely to develop between by May 26th over Bay of Bengal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low pressure area is likely to form over North Andaman Sea and adjoining East Central Bay of Bengal around May 22.

With the extremely severe cyclonic storm Tauktae wreaking havoc on the western coast of India, another cyclonic storm might be brewing in the Bay of Bengal (BoB).
