Post landfall, even though Cyclone Yaas has gradually weakened, Odisha's Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena stated that strong winds and rainfall continue to persist in Nilagiri area of Balasore district. Pradeep Jena said that not much damage has been reported from Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur districts. The official informed that by today evening the relief and rescue teams would be completing the electricity restoration and sanitation related works in the three districts.
SRC, Odisha, Pradeep Jena said, Cyclone Yaas has completed the landfall process. The tail end of the cyclone has entered the landmass. It is now moving towards the Northwest direction. As per the information we have received, in most areas of Bhadrak along with Balasore's Bahanaga, Balasore Sadar and in places like Remuna, the wind speed has slowed down and rainfall has reduced as well. However, Nilagiri area is experiencing strong winds and rainfall.
Till now, we haven't received much information about destruction. Also in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Jajpur districts; we haven't received news of any major destruction. The cyclone has uprooted some trees and currently, by and large, their clearance process is also over. By today evening, in these three districts, the roads will be cleared, trees will be removed and teams have already started the electric line verification process.
