The severe cyclonic storm ‘Yaas’ over Bay of Bengal is set to intensify into a ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ by the evening of May 25th. As per the information provided by the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘Yaas’ over East Central Bay of Bengal moved North-Northwestwards with a speed of about 10 kilometres per hour, in the past 6 hours. At 5:30 AM this morning, the cyclonic storm lay centered about 320 kilometres South-Southeast of Paradip and 430 kilometres South-Southeast of Balasore coast of Odisha. The effects of the approaching cyclonic storm were witnessed over several coastal districts, where heavy downpour was seen since early hours of May 25. Cities like Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have also started experiencing rainfall and winds.
